At first, I didn’t like my first BMW. It was…too perfect! And those engines: huge flywheels with pistons attached! Before BMW produced the incredibly complex models of today, it made its reputation on machines that were utterly reliable and wonderfully designed. Before the days of big KLX Kawasakis, if you were travelling across a continent and wanted to finish the ride, you chose a BMW, hands-down. BMW is also a subject of the classic Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. (A collector friend of mine still maintains that if he’s buying a bike and it doesn’t run, you just assume the engine is bad; the only exception, he says, is a BMW. With a BMW, you just assume it will run!) Individually hand-retouched highlights. Hand Silk Screened, Limited Edition, Found Nowhere Else.
